Microsoft Gem Drop

Microsoft Gem Drop is a collapse-style game where match adjacent same-color gems to break obstacles and form power-ups. This version of the game has a large grid allowing very large matches, which award extra moves.

The game was developed by Arkadium in collaboration with the Microsoft Casual Games team, and is a spin-off of Crystal Collapse. The game uses Arkadium's in house Pixi.js-based engine. I was responsible for programming the game, and was the main point of contact for Microsoft on technical aspects of the game, as well as time estimation for features. The bigger grid size puts a lot more gems on the screen compared to the original game, so new features such as the glowing frame around matchable tiles needed to be implemented in a performance-friendly way.
